TWO TIE FOR MEDAL HONOURS
By Steve Brown
The Basin’s Scott Vozzo and Knoxfield’s Luke Scanlan have tied for the Jack Feaver Medal for the best and fairest player in Reeves Shield at the association’s annual presentation awards. Both players were locked on 17 votes apiece at the completion of the home and away series, with Eildon Park opening batsman Ben Morris and last season’s winner Ben Stallworthy a further three votes behind. Vozzo is the first player from The Basin Cricket Club to win the prestigious medal, his second after saluting in 2007 whilst playing with former club Belgrave. Both players thanked their respective teams for their support whilst Scanlan heaped praise on his family. “I would never have got this far without my dad.” He added. The medals were presented by FTGDCA Patron Alan Bailey.
There was another tie in Decoite Shield with Mountain Gate opening bowler Cameron Wheeler polling 17 votes as did Lysterfield all-rounder Brian Kulasena. Auravale’s fast bowler Tim MacDonald was runner up on 15 votes. Wheeler also won the Bob Parish Medal as the best U/21 player in the FTGDCA for the second year in a row.
