JOHNATHON GOES TO THE NEXT LEVEL

Belgrave opening batsman Johnathon Levell capped off a great season on Wednesday night when presented with the Jack Feaver Medal at the association’s presentation night held at the Bayswater Cricket Club. The Feaver Medal is awarded to the best player in Reeves Shield. Levell, 35 dominated the bowling this season scoring a record high 764 runs at an average of 69.45 which included the finals series. He received votes in 8 games polling 20 votes to win from The Basin’s Jake Best on 16 votes with Knoxfield’s Trent Scholfield third on 13 votes.

 “I’d like to thank my team mates and of course the umpires.” said Levell.  “I’d also like to thank my parents for showing me the way when they ran the club in the 90’s when the club was almost down and out and kept it going to what it is today.”

 

It was a night for opening batsman when Upper Ferntree Gully’s captain Peter Dunlop collected the Ron Lomax Medal for the best player in Decoite Shield, winning by three votes from team mate Guy Balmford and Rowville’s Joe Morsello.

 

Former Prahran President Ian Crawford awarded the R.J. Parish Medal for the best Under 21 player in the competition to Upwey Tecoma all-rounder Jake Evans.

Norm Reeves presented Ian Harley with life membership of the FTGDCA, the 33rd in the association’s history.
