Knights Rule the Realm

With two rounds to go the Knights have locked away top position in a round where the top two and bottom 3 sides took the points. Knoxfield lost 7 wickets in pursuit of Upwey’s 161 with Tom Boxell scoring 52. Ben Wood was the best performed with the ball, taking 3 wickets. The loss may have put paid to the Tigers finals chances although with the three other teams vying for 4th spot also loosing, they are still a chance should Ferntree Gully falter.
The Basin is also set to play finals after a strong display against Ferntree Gully. Having taken first innings points last week the Bears were dismissed for 208 before the Blues batted again. Skipper Jake Best (85) continued his rich vein of form, with Scott Vozzo also making 40. In their second dig The Blues finished the day on 7/171 with Jayden Bradbury 99* and Bryce Galvin making 44.
Monbulk came out firing in their game against Eildon Park. Defending 181, the Hawks bowled the Panthers out for 135. Chris Martin took 4 wickets as Ryan Hicks (41) and Cody Morris (31) provided some resistance.
Mountain Gate remains one game clear of relegation having beaten Johnson Park. The Gators shared the runs around chasing down the Sharks 232. Dewayne Bowden top scored making 64 with Goddard (30), Buckland (43), and Fitzgerald (38) all chiming in to finish the game at 6/237.
Knox Gardens resumed play at 1/21 and only lost 1 more wicket in chasing down Belgrave’s 144. Despite the win The Falcons remain 1 game clear at the bottom of the ladder and facing relegation.
In DeCoite Shield a century to Rowville’s Joe Morsello was not enough to take the points from Lysterfield. And a call up from the twos for Rob Birnie resulted in 10 wickets for the match as Upper Ferntree Gully beat Knox Boronia Churches outright. With the top 4 teams all winning, none can be knocked out of finals contention and all that remains to be seen is the ladder positions.
