The conclusion to Round 2 saw some amazing results across the board with bowling side coming out on top in 3 of the 5 games.

 

Play at Windemere was completed within 45 minutes as the Blues wrapped up the Mountain Gate tail, successfully defending 109. The Gators recommenced at 5/78 but Ferntree Gully did not loosen their grip with Ryan Handley (6/22) and Bryce Galvin (4/43) tightening the noose. Once the first innings was completed the captains decided to call it a day.

 

Johnson Park’s Steve Devenish took 2/50 from 42 over’s as the Sharks denied Monbulk the 6 points with a 5 run margin. Devenish’s tight bowling allowed Gottliebsen and Samaraweera to take bags of 3 wickets each. Jason Fraser was the only highlight with the bat for the Hawks.

 

Knoxfield will be happy with their batsmen as Trentin Scholfield (73*) andTom Boxell (73*) ensured they chased down the biggest total of the round 260 set by Knox Gardens. The Knights completed the task for the loss of only 3 wickets.

 

Belgrave also cruised to victory, defeating Eildon Park, for the loss of only 2 wickets. Johnathon Level (32*) and Dinusha Fernando (43*) got the job done after a strong bowling performance last week.

 

Upwey completed the trifecta of sides successfully defending their scores bowling the Basin out 26 runs short. The Bears had Danny Rundle (55), Jayden Turcinovic(51) and Scott Vozzo(52) all get starts although it was not enough as the two Jakes ,Lynch( 4/48) and Evans( 3/41) took control for the Tigers.

 

In Decoite Shield, Auravale came from the clouds chasing down Upper Ferntree Gully’s 4/336 with Ryan OÇonner making 143. In the other games Lysterfield defended 189 against Footballers, Rowville held on by 37 runs when play stopped, and St Johns defeated Knox City outright.
