T20 Turns up the heat.

The FTGDCA turned to T20 mode for Round 4, with a special guest turning up in Decoite Shield, although in Norm Reeves Shield there were a few surprises as well. Belgrave stopped Upper Ferntree Gully’s undefeated run despite 56 from Peter Dunlop. Jonathon Level decided to try his hand with the ball taking 3/22 while Aaron Brunner made 33 for the Magpies.

The King’s loss left the Knights a game clear in top spot as they came away from Fairpark with a win against Johnson Park. Batting first the Sharks set a total of 5/138 with scores from Julian Whetstone (38*) and Andrew Devenish (37) before Knoxfield plundered the required runs in 12 overs. Jake Balfour (55) and Jack Taylor (35) ensured The Knights walked away winners.

The Basin enhanced their position with a win over Upwey. Blake Walter (49) and Scott Vozzo (39) set the tone early for the Bears with Danny Rundle (33) building the total to 4/152. In reply Upwey were bowled out in the last over for 135 with Jake Sherriff (3/18) and Matthew Heskes (3/40) adding to the Tigers pain.

Mark Teofilo’s 71* ensured Ferntree Gully took the points over Mountain Gate. The Gators made 116 on the back of Clint Buckland’s 51, although Timothy Parker’s 4/15 combined with Teofilo’s score put the result beyond doubt.

In their fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis Knox Gardens held sway over Eildon Park. Cody Morris and Steve Pimm were again the leading lights for Eildon Park, but Joshua Gregory and Jackson Marget made sure the Falcons had the runs on the board.

Pickett’s Reserve had a carnival atmosphere as David Hussey joined the Griffins for the day. Batting first Footballers amassed 4/181 with Storey, Bogar and Neill amongst the runs. Hussey waited until Lysterfield’s innings to make his mark on the game snaring 4/13 as the Beavers were held to 7/91 off their 20 overs. In the other DeCoite games Monbulk were too strong for St Johns Tecoma despite 71 from Trent Pitts, South Belgrave defeated Knoxfield and Rowville were victors over Olinda.
