Upwey Tecoma fast bowler Cameron “Hot Wheels” Wheeler dominated round 9 of Reeves Shield when he helped the Tigers book a finals appearance after taking 7/55 against Knox Gardens. Upwey set the Falcons 240 thanks to a rear guard action by Steve Gannell (50) and Steve Strahan (30) on day one and held on to win by 24 runs with Wheeler the destroyer taking his tally to 27 wickets at the healthy average of 11. The Falcons innings finished on 216, with Matthew Young (43) and one of the Gregory boys (56) top scoring. Knox Gardens has dropped their last two matches in tight finishes.

Former Sub District star Monto Perera showed his class when he orchestrated Knoxfield’s first loss of the season as the Eildon Park Panthers won by 33 runs, enhancing their finals prospects. The Knights were in a winning position at 4/166 chasing 259 before off spinner Perera weaved his magic taking 7/50 as the Knoxfield tail failed to wag losing their last six wickets for just 23 runs.

Belgrave in pursuit of The Basin’s 197 were in the box seat at 4/118 only to be bundled out for a disappointing 141 as the bowling partnership of Josh Lee 2/29 and Matt Heskes 2/30 from a combined 44 overs, applied the screws on the Belgrave batting line-up with the exception of Jon Levell with 56. The Basin Bears are still in touch with the top four with four rounds to play.

Ferntree Gully 4/271 finally secured a win against Monbulk (261) who cannot buy a wicket. Bryce Galvin smashed an unbeaten century for the Gully combining with Jayden Bradbury (64) and man of the match Ryan Handley (51) to add to his 5 wickets last week.

Upper Gully’s 289 was out of reach of Mountain Gate, dismissed for just 146. Kings leg spinner Robbie Birnie picked up 3/21 whilst Travis Clarke top scored for the Gators with 41.
