Eildon Park’s Cody Morris batted through the innings to see his side home against Ferntree Gully.
The Panthers started the day needing 290 to take the points from Ferntree Gully’s grasp. The Blues snared the first 4 wickets with only 62 runs on the board before Skipper Monto Perera (40) joined Morris to get the score to 135. Losing their 6th Wicket at 179 Morris then shared an unbroken partnership with wicket keeper James Tate (65*). Tate took full toll of the Ferntree Gully lineup outscoring his more experienced partner. Finishing the day on 124* Cody Morris showed he has lost none of his hunger for runs. The Panthers are now eyeing off a Top 4 spot whilst the unfortunate Blues are languishing at the bottom of the ladder with Monbulk.

Upwey inflicted Belgrave’s first loss of the season in an emphatic performance. Having made 8/299 last week the Tigers attack took command early on and did not let up on the Magpies. Cameron Wheeler (6/53) and his captain Steve Moore (4/34) did the damage, with Doug Oaten (38) and Matt Johnson (32) the best bats for Belgrave. Upwey will retain top spot with Knoxfield, whilst Belgrave may drop out of the four.

Knox Gardens registered their first win after a strong bowling performance. Despite the loss of an early wicket Upper Ferntree Gully looked to have the goods at 2/116 in the 33 over before Peter Dunlop was dismissed for 55. Shane Luck (33) then fell with the score on 132 as The Kings last 7 wickets fell in 19 over’s to be bowled out for 167. Navinder Singh snared the wickets of Dunlop, Luck, Collee and Bowen to finish with 4/33 and Adam Wild took 4/36 for the Falcons.

Knoxfield maintained their winning ways against The Basin. The Bears only managed 157 in reply to The Knights 201. Scott Vozzo (39) and Jayden Turcinovic (34) top scored for the Basin. Trent Evans (4/40) along with Scott McKenzie (4/55) were amongst the wickets.

Monbulk could not hold off a fast finishing Mountain Gate. Set a total of 260 the Gators finished the day on 6/316. Mountain Gate’s innings was built around Clint Bucklands 99 and Sanitha de Mel finishing the day on 101*, Mitch Goddard and Josh Lindner also made contributions. For the Hawks Chris Martin took 4 wickets.

In Decoite Shield Lysterfield’s Brad Paull took match figures of 11/70 as the Beavers took outright points against Olinda. Footballers 9/317 proved too much for South Belgrave while Knoxfield chased down St John’s Tecoma’s 252. Johnson Park moved into the 4 with a win over Rowville.

In other news former Knoxfield player Mitch Perry made a successful 1st XI debut for Richmond taking a wicket with his first ball and finishing with 5/21 against Melbourne University.
