This season will see the introduction of two double header (1st & 2nd X1) T20 matches for premiership points during the home and away season. The Melbourne Cup Saturday and 1st Saturday back after Xmas will be the T20 double headers and only involve Divisions 1 through 4. All other divisions will not play on those Saturdays (they didnt play the first Saturday after Xmas anyway). The double header will mean that a club's 2nd XI will play the first game and be immediately followed by the clubs 1st XI. Each club will have 1 home and 1 away draw for the season. 4 points will be awarded for a win and 2 for a tie.
A preliminary final has been introduced into Norm Reeves and Decoite Shield grades only. This provides a double chance for the two top sides and will ensure that the Norm Reeves and Decoite Shield Grand Finals are played the week after all other grades have been completed.
40 over one day matches will now have fielding restrictions throughout the game and teams will be playing in coloured clothing and using white balls.
In juniors the age groups have changed quite a bit with U/15 and U/17 grades being replaced with U/14 and U/16.
